My Sickness

Filed under: Latest Updates ~ Richard Baskett @ 3:56 pm

i’ve been sick…not just the kind where you throw up and have yucky diapers. this is a very different kind of sick.

i’d been walking quite well since my first birthday, when along came this limp that started showing up when i walked or tried to run–as i was getting good at several months ago. the limp would sometimes be there and sometimes it would be gone. my mommy and daddy took me to the doctors, trying to figure out why i was limping but only sometimes.

this past week, mommy had me at the doctor’s office because i could not even stand up by myself. the doctors did some more bloodwork…daddy came and joined us at children’s hospital while we waited for the test results to come back. finally, on friday afternoon, the results came back–the doctors said i have leukemia (if you’re wondering how a 22-month-old can spell that correctly, i was looking over my daddy’s shoulder at the paperwork the docors had). they said that i probably have type ALL, and that all i gotta do is have 2-1/2 years of treatment and then i’ll be as good as new!

  4. You mother, Dean, told us about Sharmalia. We are so sorry for this sorrow in your life. God will be with you each step of the way. I love your web site. I’ll watch it and keep up with her progress. I looked at the pictures here and she is a beautiful little girl — so happy and sweet looking. We join you in prayers for her full recovery. Isa. 49:15-16 “I will never forget you; I have carved your name in the palm of my hands.” Hugs, from your cousin, LaVonne
